How do standards differ from summer session VS fall session

<p>I was told that if I was to apply for summer session, that my chances would go up. I am out of state and was told in another thread that I would likely have to get a 630CR, 640M, and 600W on the SATS (I take them tomorrow). Would these scores be lowered?</p>

<p>A second question I have is, if I take the SATS multiple times, does Florida State only accept the best overall score or would they take a combo? So would they only accept my best score in each section?</p>

<p>The admission standards for Summer are less than those for Fall semester. The average SAT/ACT for Fall 2008 has been reported as 1265/28. See: [FSU</a> Highlights](<a href=“http://fsu.edu/highlights/students.html]FSU”>Strong Students and Outcomes | Florida State University) OOS applicants are generally held to higher standards.</p>

<p>FSU currently takes the best combination of scores from the SAT and ACT.</p>

<p>FSU superscores so they look at only the best score of each section DTD2. If you REALLY want to go to FSU, apply for summer. It increases your chances. It used to be that if you applied for fall and weren’t quite as competitive, they would offer you summer. While that is still sometimes true, it appears that you now risk a deferral instead. So if it is very high on your list, take out the uncertainly and go for summer.</p>

<p>In add. to perhaps being slightly easier to be admitted in summer session, summer is a wonderful way to begin your FSU experience. My son applied to summer. As an OSS it provided him with a great way to get to know other students in a very social, less academic rigid atmosphere. (students enroll for 6 credits) It was a difficult decision at the time - the idea of to not spending his summer with HS friends. Now almost one year later he says he is thankful his D and I pushed him to do so. He was able to meet some great friends. ALthough they went to diff dorms and frats in the fall he still sees many of them. I think summer is a positive experience and if you can afford it I think worthwhile for anyone. I have a younger son and I assure you if the school he selects has a summer session we will be encouraging him to do the same.</p>
