How do the ivies compare to the grande ecoles for the elites in France?

Does anyone know?

In France, students go through the high school three-year sequence ending with the bac. Depending on how well you score, you can either go directly to a university or, if you get a high enough score to get an honors or high honors mention, you can continue another two years known as the prepa. After the two years, you take another examination, the concours. The top two percent of scorers for this test are admitted to the grandes ecoles, where they’ll spend another 3 years of study. The most well known of the grandes ecoles is X, or ecole politechnique, which according to my biased French book, is the best school in the world. Does anyone know how these very specialized and selective school rank globally?

THE IVIES ARE GODS.

YOU CANNOT COMPARE WITH THEM.

(honestly, I don’t know except that they are among the top colleges in the world and usually ranked among the very top in many international rankings)

I wouldnt really agree with vicissitudes. I’ve heard ecole politechnique is amazing. It’s ranked at no.10 on the Times Higher Education Supplement (the most credible international ranking), ahead of all ivys other than HYP. The only reason it’s not too famous is probably because they dont get many international students as courses are taught in French. One of my friends wanted to apply there, but he said that you need to do prep courses to get in. So he decided not to apply there. Applied to MIT, Caltech, Stanford, Princeton, Berkeley and a few others, instead.
