How do the logistics of things run?

At a school with 50,000 people I’d imagine its hard for everyone to be able to get the classes they want, and be able to do selective internships ect.

Do people at OSU tend to be happy with their classes, and their accademic experience with the school? and why?

My D is just completing her freshman year. She is a pre-business student. She never had a problem getting the classes she wanted. Her schedules all three semesters were very good. I can’t speak for the interships though.

For the most part, she’s been happy with her classes and professors. As with any school, large or small, there will some professors that are better than others, but such is life. While one student may not like a certain professor, another may love him or her. The professor of her economics class was not highly reviewed, however my D likes her very much and is doing very well in the class. She has found her classes to be academically stimulating.

There are 50,000 but there are ALSO many more professors, majors, staff, places to have internships, buildings, etc. It’s not like they crammed 50k people into an LAC.

My friends at small LACS have had much more trouble getting into classes than I have - they have required classes only offered every other year (or every other 2 years.) That’s never really the case at OSU. It might be helpful to look around this forum more, the question about happiness with the academic experience has been addressed several times.

DS has never had problems getting the classes he wants. However, he’s in honors so he gets priority registration and within his college they open extra seats or sections if specific required honors classes are filled up. I think he loves OSU because the academics and social atmosphere suit him. He has not struggled with any bureaucratic or logistical issues as far as I know, but then he’s a very competent/capable person. As a parent, I have found the school remarkably well organized and the students/teachers/admin/employees all very kind and helpful.

I’m in the honors program, and I’ve never had issues getting into classes I wanted. Honors students schedule first, so that helps. I haven’t done any internships yet, but because we’re such a large school, a lot of companies send representatives here to our job fairs.
