<p>Considering I have great grades, sat’s, essays, etc., how do these ECs look for MIT?</p>

Full scholarship to do research at $3100 6 week selective science summer program at local university (~180 hrs) (Summer before 12)
2000+ hrs soccer (9-12) (+more if include younger ages)
300+ hrs community service (children art program) (9-12)
400+ hrs animation (Adobe/Macromedia Flash) (9-12)
300+ hrs programming (Python, Java, AS2) (9-12)
100+ hrs internship w/ programmer (11-12)</p>

<p>Not really an EC, but also Junior year took AP Lang, AP Chem, AP Enviro, AP US Hist, and Precalc H ----> I’ve been in avg math classes getting over 100%s in them and breezing by them, but I’m not allowed to take a higher level course (stupid school), so I self studied AP Calc BC. I self studied other APs because I wanted to and either schedule didn’t allow it or school didn’t offer - AP Comp Sci, AP Stats, and AP Physics B. Got 5 on all APs taken (total of 8 - Hook?). Ill add more stuff to this list if I think of it.</p>

<p>Names and numbers don’t mean much. Cogently explaining your activities, they’re impact on you, and your impact on them is much more important.</p>

<p>I agree. If you love what you do, and you can convey your love well on paper, then they’re great.</p>

<p>Thanks, but question: I’m pretty exited about the research thing, but isn’t that kinda thing super common for MIT people, and do the admissions people get tired of seeing it? (of course its better than not doing it, but…) And are the self-studies that impressive? Thanks for feedback.</p>
