How do they "assess the level and type of involvement in each activity"?

On tufts’ admission site, they have this paragraph:
Extracurricular Activities
In addition to evaluating an academic fit, the admissions committee looks for ways a student may contribute to the community as a whole. They will assess the level and type of involvement in each activity and may ask questions such as: Has the student been a significant contributor or leader? How has the involvement contributed to the school or larger community? Does the student have a special talent in a particular area?. We do not expect that every student be captain, president or editor-in-chief; rather, we look for meaningful involvement with their school and/or community.

How exactly do they measure that? And how and to whom do they ask their questions about leadership, talent, etc. when all that they know is what we listed in the activities section of our common app, which contains our position in each activity and the number of hours that each club/activity takes up?

BUMP 10char. :p

Well your leadership positions, your awards youve won, the things youve done (mentioned either in the explanation or the essay) Also, the interview (highly recommended) Thats how they measure that. Best of luck
