How do they like/hate the French?

hey

I’m going to be a french international student freshman at UT next fall and i was wondering if Texan do hate the french as much as I have heard. Mostly for not joining in the war.

I heard many different point of views on this already but i’m still asking you. One such view was that all the texan girl will giggle and be excited about it. Another is that well, everyone is going to hate my guts. But i never heard the last choice which is that people won’t give a damn.

so i’d love your take on this

thanks :p

Don’t worry, Austin is like a haven away from the rest of Texas. No one will really care who you are or where you’ve come from. If anything, girls will be giggling.

Students at UT are open and friendly and will not care about your race, nationality, sexual orientation, or political affiliation (unless perhaps, you are a diehard fan of OU or Texas A&M). During orientation and the first few weeks of school you will get at least half a dozen free t-shirts with burnt orange Longhorns logos of various sorts. If you are willing to embrace the Longhorns football culture, you will fit right in right away. If you don’t like Longhorns football, it might take a little longer.

Just teasing you.

Don’t worry about it at all. If you are a friendly person, I predict that people find your origin and accent interesting and unusual, and they will be drawn to you.

they seem to like the English ok (i have an english accent)! so don’t be worried; most people probably won’t care. just be prepared for people saying things like, “Say something in your French accent.” or “Is it a lot different over there?”

LOOK LONGHORNS!!! A FRENCHIE!!! GET HIM!!!

Just kidding man, you shouldn’t have any problems in Austin.

My math teacher is french, and he is a bad ass. So long as you aren’t annoying, it generally doesn’t matter where you come from.

Do you have Florent Jouve foxshox? He substituted for us once and he was wonderful.

yeah no, i don’t even have an accent really… and i’m VERY willing to embrace longhorn culture ^^ love NFL/NCAA already and texas is ranking high so… HELL YEAH! HOOK EM :D

texas fiiiight texas fiiight, and its goodbye to A&M
Texas fiiight texas fiiight and we’ll put over one more win!!
Texas fiiIIIIIight texas fiiight, cauz its texas that we love best!

Trade in your beret for a cowboy hat and you’ll probably be fine.

lol in high school… even in france, before i knew i was going to texas, i wore a cowboy hat and people called me the cowboy xD
i think i’ll be fine

lol, don’t worry about that at all! people don’t care…believe me

where are you going to live?

Don’t wear a cowboy hat. People will laugh at you. Especialy because you’re not from Texas and aren’t a cowboy, they’ll laugh at you more.

People may crack jokes about France, but no one is going to dislike you as a person for being from France. You may wanna get used to being called a cheese-eating surrender monkey, but if it bothers you just tell the person and they’ll stop.

And to finish the fight song for you:
GIVE 'EM HELL, GIVE 'EM HELL, MAKE 'EM EAT S H I T,
And it’s goodbye to all the rest!

Wouldn’t the following be a better rhyme?

GIVE 'EM HELL, GIVE 'EM HELL, MAKE 'EM EAT SNAILS,

Sorry Mr. Deeds, I just couldn’t resist.

Hahahaha that made me laugh :D

made me laugh too… i HATE SNAILS as wel XD et doctor crocodile, si tu veut, good french you got there. a couple of mistakes still but it’s ok  lol add me on facebook if you wanna chat in french a bit ^^

I am bumping this to see if MrDeeds came to Austin :)
