How Do U Do It?

How do all you people on this board get straight As, perfect SATS( I and II), and straight 5s on the AP tests. am i just dumb if I get a few Bs. Also, could u guys also share how u manage u time. That has been my biggest ordeal and challenge.

How do u or did study for the SAT I ( IT’ssssssss sooooooooooo lllllllllooooooooonnngggg!!!)

THank u very much.

i’m not really that amazing CC student that you’re talking about… but i’ve got decent stats, and i’m totally willing to give study tips. for managing my time, i just make sure i have no distractions when i do my work so that i can focus all of my attention on my task and work quickly, and i develope specific study methods for each class. (ex: for my AP latin class, i found it best to study with ONLY the latin text in front of me when going back over poems to translate for a test, that way i only checked definitions when i absolutely needed to instead of relying too much on the english and using it as a crtuch in studying).

also, for the SAT I, take a bunch of practice tests. you’ll get better at reading and answering the questions on the test, and if you do it a lot it won’t feel quite so laborious and long. my friend took six practice tests and scored a 2400 on her first try, it works! i took three and managed to raise my score 250 points between my first and second time taking the test.

Time management is so important!! When you study try disconnect from teh outside world. Turn off cell phone, tv, etc ( music is allowed if it’ll help you concentrate). Take breaks between subjects, eat a cookie, take a short walk .

Sat I- buy the blue book and practice practice practice. Thats the best way to do well on that devil test, practice till you drop.

I do more things on days that normally arent hard. Like Moday I do more things than the other days cause it is typically an easy day. And for the sat’s I asked my english teacher to make me a pro at identifying sentence structure errors.

do you think study 1 hour for everyday help?

Simply put, I studied for my AP tests from Mid-March all the way until the day before each test. I 5’ed all three of mine this year. Last year, I hardly studied, and I got a 4 on the test I took. Coincidence? I think not. :P

Marijuana action is key.

Personally, I had avoided electives my senior year and took two studies so I could focus on my really important core classes. On top of it, I already speak Spanish at home so my Spanish class goes by easy, math is my one true talent so that’s simple enough, and English I can BS my way through, so I only really need to work hard in my history and physics classes. Also, I only worked on the weekends, and I really don’t need that much sleep to get through the day [only about 5/6 hrs/night], so I have a lot of available time. And then there were the 5 AP’s I took this year, and I really didn’t expect to do well, though I did put in a lot of time for history and Spanish and math were more my forte, so basically I would recommend avoiding extra classes, take studies to finish simpler homework, and really focus on the classes you need the most work towards and leave the ones you have a more natural talent for. Also, for the SAT II’s I would recommend just sticking to what you know, I mean I’m not going to go and take history so I can just take the 500 now, instead I took math IIc, spanish, and chemistry because those were three subjects I knew extremely well and then I didn’t have to study too much for them to do well. So really the key is make life simpler for yourself by doing what is easiest for yourself with the mentality that it takes less time to do fewer things.

By the way, hey bluetissues, I don’t know if you recognized me but I’m Peq2007 from admission chances.com :)

I don’t manage time. In fact, I don’t study or work hard at all. I was just born really smart :).

I’d say it’s all about time management. Use your time wisely (what I plan to do in my upcoming Jr year)

Wow, there is a lot of good advice here. I know I didn’t make the thread/ask the question, but I still want to thank you guys for the advice.

Trust me, studying is a waste of time. Get good College Board Scores and excel at a sport.
