There are about 50 people on the C7 waitlist. My chance seems unlikely. But i heard somewhere that on the first day of class (assuming there’s a spot open), the professor picks randomly anyone from the waitlist to get the spot. Isn’t it unfair???

sorry, never had any class with a “waitlist”.

Waitlists are supposed to be by your order on them, however the professor has full ability to decide whether to accept no one or everyone. If he has a waitlist and disregards the order, too bad. The latter is the exception rather than the rule, in my opinion.

My son was on a waitlist for a class, and the professor took the first few students on the list as some dropped out. Why don’t you email the prof or stop in to his/her office to see where you are on the list, show interest and get his/her opinion about your chances of getting a spot.
