How do we register classes if we cannot go to orientation?

Hi, I cant go to orientation, how can I register the courses for the Fall quarter? and do the freshman classes usually fill up?
any help appreciated

it appears that you will be one of the last group to register for classes then (since you register for classes during orientation. if you cannot make the summer orientation, you “attend” an orientation on sept. 22nd if the webpage is up to date and i believe that is maybe the day after moving into the dorms(?)

[Fall Orientation](http://www.sa.ucsb.edu/orientation/SummerAlternatives/FallOrientation.aspx)

guess Ill register for classes at september then. but do you know if classes are usually filled by september or is there enough space for everyone?

from what i remember, for “freshman classes” the university usually holds some spaces for people who get to register later. for some classes like Japanese (which i was dying to get in but it was already full a few weeks before my orientation) they just open all the spaces at once and the classes fill up almost immediately, so it doesn’t matter whether you can go to the orientation or not cause you won’t get those classes anyway lol. but for classes like wirting 2 and basic courses you’ll have a chance to sign up.

Darn it I wanted to take Japanese so badly!

i know!! but if you’r lucky you can still get a spot as sometimes someone just drops the class and you happen to see one spot open and take that spot lol. that means you have to check on GOLD like every hour or something (i did that, and that was how i got in). but you can also crash the class by showing up and there will be a waiting list, go to the class everyday and by the end of the week they will give you an add code and then you can enroll. i’m pretty sure everyone who crashes japanese gets in.
