You do realize that consulting is a blanket term that describes any type of temporary work as an external, right?

Not to mention the title answers itself. You become a consultant with a major in finance by majoring in finance and becoming a consultant. More specific?

If you are talking about working at a major consulting firm (McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, etc.) then you need to have an MBA and go to a top school. They concentrate their recruiting at certain schools. Some universities post the list of companies who recruit at the schools, so that is one way to find out. The other is to check out the websites of the companies you would like to work for to see what schools are on their regular recruiting list.

I agree with the above posts. However, i know people here who come right out of undergrad to work for consulting firms. It’s not like you’re going to do the same work as an MBA grad, but you can work for a consulting firm with just a BBA in finance. They call McKinsey and HBS the revolving door because people who get hired out of undergrad to work for McKinsey can get into HBS and people who graduate from HBS can work for McKinsey.
