How do you check to see who is on the Harvard's Deans List?

Or to see who graduated valedictorian in the last 10 years? Thanks

They got rid of the Dean’s List at Harvard about five years ago, and Harvard, to my understanding, has never had a valedictorian.

There are various levels of honors degrees, such as cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude. The system for awarding them is described here:

[FAS Handbook for Students: Chapter 2: Academic Information](http://webdocs.registrar.fas.harvard.edu/ugrad_handbook/current/chapter2/grades_honors.html)

Much of the system for awarding honors is determined by the department rather than by the school, so it would depend on your concentration.

There is also Phi Beta Kappa, which is a very old academic society that accepts approximately 10% of the graduating class. Information about it can be found here:

[Phi Beta Kappa: Alpha Iota of Massachusetts](http://www.fas.harvard.edu/~pbk/)

Finally, there are a great number of prizes offered, awarded for outstanding theses, undergraduate essays, achievement in the arts, and many others. Information about these and past winners can be found here:

[Harvard FAS Prize Office](http://www.fas.harvard.edu/~secfas/PrizeOfficeHome.htm)

Why are you interested in such a list?

ETA: It’s possible Harvard might have had a valedictorian a very, very long time ago, I’m just confident there hasn’t been one in a long time, certainly not the last ten years.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act prohibits universities from giving out details of a student’s educational record to anyone other than the student or persons whom the student designates.

More than ten years. I graduated in 1978. My recollection was that there was a listing that grouped the honors graduates. A small group graduated “summa cum laude” an even smaller group “magna cum laude with highest honors in their department” and so on.
