How do you cure vomitting?

Its not for me, its for my sister. She got home from school around 3:45 and was ok until about 4:30. Then she threw up in the bathroom. She said she wasnt feeling very good so she went to lay down but threw up again. My mom gave her some ginger ale but she just threw it back up, same with the pepto bismol. We gave her some alka seltzer about an hour ago and she’s been asleep ever since but I dont know if she’s gonna wake up sick again, I hope not. I think it might have been something she ate because she said she ate some chicken nuggets an ice cream and some fries at school and then had a slice of pizza when she got home and that was it.

I just did a google search and came up with this:
http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/16/259.cfm

But it probably won’t work since you’ve already tried the fluids and pepto-bismol. So just wait it out I suppose. Good luck :)

Yeah there really isn’t much you can do - just wait it out. Don’t try to eat or drink anything. If you haven’t vomitted in a while, try to take small sips of clear fluid or a dose of pepto bismol to calm your stomach. If you start vomitting blood, go to the ER. If you are dry heaving, your body has already cleared your stomach but something still isn’t right.

Nausea and Vomitting aren’t fun, but everyone goes through it.

Thanks for the advice. She’s been asleep for a couple of hours now, im hoping she’s better tomorrow morning but my mom said that if she’s the same in the morning she’s probably gonna take her to the hospital.

ok, i am a semi-medical literate, so here are my questions.

does she feel nausea before vomiting? if she doesn’t or she vomit without warning send her to ER rightway, cuz that has to do with the vomit reflex in brain stem.

does she have fever, throat pain, or anything that may indicate a bacterial infection?

what’s the color of her poop? (black indicates internal bleeding.)

She does say she feels nauseas before she throws up because she says she can feel it coming. My mom checked and said she has no fever and she says nothing hurts. And im not sure about the color of her poop but she did go to the bathroom and if something was wrong she would of probably told my mom.

could it be that because she’s having a baby? Not a whole lot of sickness cause vomiting.

Does she feel that her stomach’s gonna throw up before vomiting or does she feel really dizzy that everything is spinning around her?

very good, blackdream - but vomiting can be fairly common for some bacterias and other sicknesses.

Why not complete your workup?
Is there positive orthostatic vitals? (does her pulse go up a lot or does she become dizzy when she stands from laying down or sitting?)
Pressing on all four quadrants of the abdomen is there any point or rebound tenderness or pain? rigidity? If you push on one spot, does the entire abdomen hurt?
Any recent abdominal trauma? Has something hit her in the stomach recently?
When was her last period and was it normal? And yes, is there any possibility of pregnancy?

haha i think its probably just a simple case of food poisoning or some bacterial infection… but welcome to my job and everything I have to think about when I hear abdominal pain. :p

i think, i am not sure tho, rubbing bit of lemon on your tongue, for that sour-bittery taste can prevent nausea atleast…but of course if there is a major prob for vomitting doubt it will work…try though

yes about that 4 quarant thing, definitely do it. however, any bacterial infection of the gastric trait produce some pretty painful reactions, and the person did not specifiy those.

Thanks for the advice, she’s ok now, I guess it was just something she ate. Although I did get scared about that pregnacy thing though since she’s only 15.

It’s probably just a stomach virus…
