How do you deal with being rejected from the military?

I am in my mid-20s, and I still have a ton of regret and disappointment about not being able to serve. In high school, I got denied from the service academies and ROTC. After college, I applied for OCS and got denied. No one talks about how selective the military is, and it’s frustrating I can’t ever seem to meet their nebulous standards.

Even More Young Americans Are Unfit to Serve, a New Study Finds. Here's Why. does say that 77% of young Americans are ineligible for US military service.

Assuming that you are in the 23% not ineligible for reasons mentioned above, note that service academies and ROTC scholarships are highly selective, although ROTC generally tends to be much less selective. OCS is mostly geared toward those already in enlisted military service. Enlisting should be significantly less selective than entry as an officer.

It’s still selective enough to the point where I can’t get in. I don’t want to enlist when I already have a college degree

You have a number of posts with the same underlying themes of feeling unhappy and frustrated with life and how selective different things (college sports, clubs, grad school, etc.) are.

Becoming a military officer is yet one more thing that is selective. I’m sorry if you would like to serve but didn’t meet the requirements to become an officer. But since that is the case, you need to move on.
