How do you dress when you go to class?

I like to dress casually because I feel more comfortable. For the warmer seasons, I just wear shorts and T-shirts. For the colder seasons, I wear hoodies, jackets, sweatpants, and joggers. I still wear jeans and dockers, but not as often as I wear sweat clothes.

IMO, school is not a fashion show. Although, I’ll still dress up for important events, but if you ever saw me out in about, I most likely will be wearing comfortable clothes.

Jeans (shorts / capris / long pants), shirts (tees / long-sleeved tees / sweaters), zip-up hoodies, shoes (Vans / boots).

Unless you have a job interview or something right after, there isn’t really much reason to dress up for class beyond what you normally wear.

For me, it is usually a t-shirt (most of mine are free) and khaki shorts, or jeans/sweater/jacket for colder weather.

My senior year of high school, I wore khakis twice, and those khaki shorts probably four or five times. Beyond that, I was in sweats or gym shorts and hoodies with t shirts everyday.

In college, I am still like that, but not to as large of an extent. I go to the gym and play basketball a lot, so on days when I know I’ll be doing that, I wear sporty clothes (shorts under sweats on cold days) so I don’t have to change. I throw in khakis or jeans a couple times a week, for at least part, but rarely all, of a day.

If it’s a teacher I’m trying to impress I tend to dress a little nicer. For example, for Intro to Finance I try to dress a little nicer. However, for critical reasoning I’ll dress more casual because I care less.

Haha! I was an 80s girl and used to wear the most New Wave outfits you could ever imagine. I got totally dolled up for class. Think along the lines of this: https://youtu.be/IasCZL072fQ

In highschool my daughter spent 2 hours getting ready for school. Now in college she just roll out of bed and go. Lol

As a teacher, my students come to class in everything from pajamas to sports clothes (sometimes carrying yoga mats) to (mostly) casual jeans/sweats/tshirts/hoodies to business clothing. I have one student who always appears wearing an interesting hat, ranging from a cheese head to wizard hat to tweed driving cap.

I kinda roll out of bed and throw on whatever’s closest a lot of times. My go tos are either one of my more casual dresses (easy to throw on if I’m running late) or a t-shirt and jeans/leggings. I’m also a dance minor, and I usually wear my dance clothes all day when I have dance class. I’ve showed up to classes like math in just a leotard and leggings before and no one cares lol.

I usually wear a sweat jacket with the shirt i slept in underneath (saves time) and then I wear sweatpants. I have like 3 pairs of sweats so I just wear them all then rewash em over the weekend and repeat. No one cares how you dress in college so go how you feel comfortable. In my senior year I wore my hoodies without a shirt underneath cause I would forget to (idk how tho lol) and no one would notice since everyone is minding their own business.

I was depressed for a while in college and I found that when I would ‘dress up’ I would feel better/look forward to my day. Was I walking around college in a ballgown and high heels? No. But on some days I’ll be wearing joggers with a long sleeve shirt and sneakers, while on others I’ll wear a skirt with a blouse. Or I’ll wear a nice shirt with boots or oxfords. I feel like I did the opposite of most students haha. High school I never cared what I looked liked and wore jeans and a t-shirt everyday, and now in college I make the effort to look nice. Perhaps it’s because I’m commuter and I’ve heard most commuters dress up more because we usually have some place to go to off campus afterwards.

t-shirt, shorts and flip flops when it was warm, jeans and sneakers when it got colder + whatever layering needed (usually hoodie first, then hoodie + jacket) and hiking boots if there was a lot of snow/ice on the sidewalk/walkways.

Same for first 2 years of med school and during grad school (except in the summer still wore sneakers cuz lab safety). Only started dressing up on a regular basis when I returned to med school for the clinical years and any opportunity I had to wear scrubs instead of dress clothes I took advantage of. As my resident on surgery said “Isn’t it great that we get to wear pajamas to work?”

AMAZING

I dress nicely (button up, jeans, casual dress shoes) because it makes me feel ready to take the day on. Confidence booster too.

Here is an article about how physicians and other health care personnel may want to consider how they dress from an epidemiology standpoint:
