I liked a lot of the schools that I have visited, but none of them truly stood out and clicked with me. What factors made you fall in love with your dream school?

You shouldn’t.

^^ wat?

There is no “how to”, it just happens. I visited Penn last month and I loved it, I didn’t do anything in particular to make that happen.

I don’t mean “how to” like an instructional video. I suppose I should have phrased it “what made you fall in love with a school?”

I think part of falling in love with a school, is falling in love with the idea of you going to that school. Similar to how like driving a certain care might change someone’s perception of themselves

Have you fallen in love with other inanimate things before? basically i think you’re either someone who easily falls in love with schools, or doesn’t. I never fell in love with any particular school.

Haha, sorry for misunderstanding your question. When I was at Penn, I envisioned myself sitting in Wharton with a bunch of other smart future leaders. I also went to a football game and threw some toast (if you are unfamiliar with that Penn tradition, don’t worry about it). I experienced what I would imagine I would experience if I do end up attending Penn. I also just love how the place looks, and how it is in the city yet has a distinct campus.

Sorry if I turned on the Penn-love to maximum, but that’s how/why I love Penn.

I fall in love with financial offers, head over heels for full rides. 8)

Going to it.

Once you go to college, it ceases to be a name on a paper and starts being a way of life. It’s easier to fall in love with friends, classes, and traditions than with an idea.

To me, the main draw of any college is the people.

I totally agree with how dfree describes Penn. Seriously, just visit Penn if you want to fall in love (unless you’re afraid of getting your heart broken). I think everyone who visits Penn falls in love. Everyone is nice, fun, smart, ambitious, and in general great to be around. The whole time I was thinking that these are the people I want to surround myself with.

Johns Hopkins was all study study study premed study study. I liked the people and the whole rah-rah atmosphere at Duke, but people almost seemed ashamed to appear too smart.

I dunno if I’ve really “fallen in love” with any school, but I know where I’m going because it’s the cheapest, most-logical option for what I want to do with my life.

Maybe the key is deciding to go to a school for real reasons AND THEN falling in love with it.

In my experience, websites can only tell you the basic facts about whether the school could work for you. Explore the sites to see if there’s any component that will help you get a sense of the school and if you want to go there (for me, it’s looking through course catalogs and planning out my potential schedules- it helps me picture myself there). For me, I’ve fallen in love with schools when I visit them- I’ve only completely fallen in love with 2 schools, and it wasn’t specific perks that I learned about as much as this feeling when I got on campus. But it seems to be different for everyone.
