Hello. I am currently a high school senior and my academic decathlon teacher requires our class write a speech. I wanted to try and avoid the generic (insert controversial political topic here ), so I decided to base it on the process of becoming a doctor; after all I should be able to strongly articulate my future career right?

I admit, my speech will be focused on the negative aspects of the process. I intend to write about the huge sacrifice of money, time, and effort medical school entails.

Unfortunately, like most high school seniors, I am blissfully ignorant about the medical field. My knowledge of the field is limited to the academic setting, primarily HOW you become a doctor. I hope that the research for this speech will give me a more gestalt perspective of the career, especially the political side of it (bleh ) and what the future entails.

That is why I ask you this question; what do you think about the process of becoming a doctor? What do you like/dont like about it? Assume (you might not have too) that I know NOTHING about the politics about the field; what do you like/not like about it?

Please note that I am NOT trying to belittle or offend your career choice in any way, shape, or form. I am simply trying to broaden my knowledge about a field I know very little about. If I inadvertently do so, I apologize ahead of time.
