How do you finish everything efficiently?

You’ve gotten out of school and are tired from the day’s work. When you arrive home you realize you have at least 4 hours of homework to do, 1 hour of piano to play, an SAT test to study for, 2 SAT IIs and 5 AP exams to study for. How or can you even get everything done without staying up the entire night and sleeping through tomorrow’s classes? Should you just prioritize from the order of greatest importance to the least and do as many as you can? (Btw, what is the order of greatest importance to the least from the list I’ve made above?) Should you do a little of everything and hope for the best grade in each?

No, I’m not in the situtation that I’ve described above but I might be for next year. In fact, I can barely manage to get everything done with only 1 AP. Here’s my case, I’m spending a lot of my time studying for the APs since our class is behind by 3 sections so I’m kind of cutting off the homework and such. Should I save the homework to do last/in class the next day when it’s due? Should I start using class time to finish homework? Do teachers hate students who do their homework in class right before it’s due? <– Is this the only way to survive if without sleeping in class? For people who are great at managing time and getting everything done effectively (i.e. getting a decent amount of sleep), how do you do it?!?

do homework in class/lunch, before its due or whenever you want. quit piano, not study for SAT (do in summer), not study for SATII’s, not study for AP exams, with what you learned in class you should be fine(or study on wknd if your that paranoid, princeton review kaplan are great). End up going to your state school.

I come home, watch tv, tell myself I’m going to practice piano and then do all my hw and study for APs and SATIIs. Then I go to sleep telling myself that one day of not practicing piano won’t kill me and that I can do my hw before school and study for APs and SATs the next day. Repeat and voila.

Don’t study for SATs, don’t study for SAT 2s, practice piano for maybe 30 minutes, don’t do the homework. My work efficiency strategy is pretty simple. :P

I come home, take a nap, study for the exams, and don’t do the homework. Homework is useless if you understand what’s happening in class anyway.

It’s important that you’re inspired to do it. Think about something fun that you could be doing after you finish your work. Like watching TV. Or sleeping.

I’d recommend slacking a bit in the class that your grade is the strongest in, that way it won’t fall too much (if you really need to). Then makeup the assignment later when you get some free time.

Does anyone recommend doing hw in classes? Do you think doing other classes’s hw, lets say biology, in history class would bring a negative impression of you on the teacher? What do teachers think of a person who does this? Will this negatively affect my relations with the teacher or affect the reccomendations they send?

most of my teachers wouldnt let us do hw from other classes,

Do it anyways, just be sneaky about it. Look up every once in a while and act like you’re paying attention.

^history–I sometimes do hw discreetly, he doesn’t really know
french–class is a joke, I do math hw there everyday
english–need to actually pay attn. in class
math–need to actually pay attn. in class
fashion design–a fun class, i actually enjoy doing the projects
chemistry–my teacher doesn’t give a crap what you do in class as long as you don’t disrupt his teaching. If you can do math hw everyday and still get A+s, he couldn’t care less, as long as you don’t impede the learning of people who can’t.

We don’t get homework.
Well, we get a little bit, but we mostly get tests. :D

Not to mention, all my most serious classes are done for the year. Now the only reasons I’m going to school are English, French, and History, which were never that serious to begin with.

Put piano on hold. Unless you have some serious competitions coming up. I play violin and do most my improvement during the summer. 30 min is enough, even 20 will see you through.

Do my homework in whatever spare time I have and while I’m eating. Practice piano for VERY short amount of time or do it every few days. Don’t study for SATs until you have time. APs, if you have the class you shouldn’t need to study that much. If you are self-studying then 30 mins every other day will do until test month. Saturdays= Social day. Don’t do any homework unless you do it early. Make it a point to spend it with friends so you don’t go insane.

bump I still dont’ know how much I should slack off exactly. should I complete 50% of the assignments due the next day or what? I just need 2 full weeks to study for APs

only do hw in classes where hw actually counts as a grade. In my science and math classes, they don’t count so I don’t do them. It just takes some extra studying (like 1 hour) a night before the test. Then its really reasonable.
