How do you get rid of old bedframe+mattress+blanket?

I’ve tried Craigslist but it’s useless

Student listserv: people are interested in all the other items but NOT the bed/mattress.

Salvation Army doesn’t want to pick up the mattress.

Help

Drag it to the dumpster, bro.

Have you tried freecycle?

Does it all have to go together or can you just get rid of things piece by piece? It might be difficult if you’re trying to unload it all on one person (which it sounds like you are).

Hm I should look into free cycle.

Not all of it has to go together. That said I don’t have a car and I"m very weak so I need someone else to take the stuff out.

I’m also trying to find alternative venues for selling the items but there seems to be competition.

And it’s sad. It’s all only a year old and still all in very good condition. I even got the mattress for $600 in good condition

Did you ask people in your neighborhood? If you have one, tell the association and they’ll advertise it.

I don’t know people in my neighborhood. :(

I’ve just posted it on freecycle.

Stuff on freecycle goes pretty quickly, so hopefully it’ll be off your hands soon. You could also post on similar sites such as freegle or whatsmineisyours as added advertising.

You could also try a homeless shelter, furniture bank or a local goodwill. Or you could recycle it. There are actual recycling companies dedicated to mattresses. Just google mattress recycling and you’ll have your answer. :)

Oh good idea! I just got one offer off of freecycle. Hopefully I’ll see if I have more. The only issue is that people can be very flaky so interest does not mean offer.

Good idea on the alternative sites - I’ll try those.

What are furniture banks?

I’ve tried the shelters/goodwills but they want me to call a week in advance for pickup (I can’t deliver).

A lot of students here sell their bed materials on Uloop. Check to see if your university also has a Uloop page.

Good idea - I’ve just tried that too. The Uloop for my univ. seems empty though. :(
