How do you guys deposit your money?

Like into the bank, do you head to the bank and use the machines or line up and talk with someone?

I go to an ATM. It doesn’t have to be inside your actual bank, you know. Just find an ATM that is the same type as your bank (you can withdraw from any ATM - there might be a fee though - but you can only deposit into an ATM from your bank), put the cash or check in an envelope (provided at the ATM), fill out the proper information, and deposit. Works like a charm.

If you feel like physically going to your bank though or there are no ATMs of your bank’s type around, then yeah, you’ll need to go to the bank. If I have to physically go (I have a few times when I either didn’t have a debit card because I’d just opened an account or there was one time when I lost my card) I will talk to the people, unless the bank is not open and then I use the ATM attached to the bank. It’s a bit far for me though so I prefer to use the ATMs around campus. Also when I do withdraw money the ATMs here don’t charge a fee, which I really like. Will miss having an ATM right in my dorm though…

My paycheck is directly deposited into my bank account.

If I have a large enough sum to deposit I go inside and talk to someone. If its smaller I use the ATM

@ Drew C,

Wah, paycheck.

I go to the bank and fill out a deposit slip.

Wait, where do you get the white envelope? How do you know the machine will recognize your bills inside the envelope

^ Go in and actually see the bank teller. It won’t hurt you to actually converse with another human being.

I don’t want to line up just for an envelope, otherwise I would just deposit directly

I don’t want to let others know that I am weak!

ATM at my bank

The ATM won’t recognize the bills inside of an envelope. Employees will take your money out of the envelope and count it. Newer ATMs let you deposit money and checks without an envelop and scan and count it on the spot.

If your ATM uses envelopes for deposits, there’s probably a stack of envelopes right by the ATM.

Lol and we are supposed to “trust” the employees?

^You don’t have to…but then you need another way to deposit your money.

Well you get a bank statement after you turn the money in (at least at my credit union, we do), so there’s not really a fear about the employees taking the money.

Don’t you do this every single time you hand someone your credit card?

I use an ATM.

My paycheck is automatically deposited into my account (this is required for all workers at my place of employment, but I prefer it this way)

^Yeah, get direct deposit if you can, so much easier. I only physically deposit my financial aid checks.
