^ Like what?

That’s not what I was trying to do. Once someone does a dumbass thing it stays, they cannot go back in time.

x - = +++
or
-1+1+1+1+1= +++

conclusion: do more stupid things and/or do more smart things.

haha ^

okay but seriously, if you’re not the smartest tool in the shed, then compensate! volunteer your time and whatnot. i have a friend who was prob in the same boat with the same choice. he spent his time working the best he could, played football, and volunteered a lot of his time at church and this fall he’s going to upenn!

What if I’m socially dense as well? I have two different mental disorders that impede socialization and it seems like I would annoy everyone or get in the way if I volunteer rather than help. Volunteering is for good communicators who can really connect with others. That does not describe me.

it’s the sharpest tool in the shed. not the ‘smartest’ tool in the shed.

op, don’t worry about it. we all make mistakes. it’s already been said, being stupid is subjective.

my bad.

you’re completely normal. in fact, you seem to even be a parent judging from your posting history…

far from it. i only mention it because i made the same mistake a few weeks ago at work. i was trying to make a point on something and used that same exact phrase and my buddy corrected me and said ‘it’s sharpest tool’. i had one of those stupid but funny moments with co-workers. just thought it was ironic i saw someone repeat my same mistake here so i had to correct it like my buddy corrected me. keep it going.

haha i was thinking one thing and typing another, you were probably processing the same thoughts

not you as the parent, i meant the person who started the thread

^ No, I just post on almost every forum. I’m actually a sophomore in college.

Stupidity is saying or doing something one believes to be intelligent but circumstances indicate otherwise. The best collection of stupid people in that category can be found at darwinawards.com

How do you know if one is stupid?

That’s easy…you say to them "hey, did you know if your hand is bigger than your face then you have cancer?

But on a serious note, I’m not sure how I would define if someone is stupid. I have my intuitions on whether someone is stupid or not, and because of them i tend to be a good judge of intelligence.

However, usually I think the addition of the sound “uh” as a suffix on words of native english speakers is almost always a sure sign of stupidity.

Like when people say “stopuh” or “noah” when they really mean “stop” or “no”.
Go-uh, why-uh, now-uh, how-uh.

Basically just makes them sound like they are complaining little babies.

That is not true at all though, as such your senses are wrong. Yes, being well articulated is a part of being intelligent but it is not mandatory, I know math professors who talk like that and are even stuttering a lot but that do not mean that they are dumb.

However most are like you, evaluating intelligence based mostly on their speech and body language (Which I have nothing against since I have no issues with those myself) and that creates problems like this:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-life/661355-do-people-often-misunderestimate-your-level-intelligence.html

I agree with this.

If you honestly dont know that youre overdo[ing] illogical/dumb/out of sense things, thats ignorance, not stupidity. Moreover, making mistakes isnt stupid if you learn from them. Making them over and over again and not even trying to adapt, however, is stupid.
