On college applications how do you list the summers? Saying " the summer after my junior year" takes too much space. Would you write 11 or 12? I am helping my son to start a profile for college applications.

How about Summer 2013

What I wanted to know was do we circle the 11 or the 12 on the application?

I would circle the 12. No real difference between your student now, and your student on the first day of 12th grade. 11th is completed.

And most rising college seniors wouldn’t know what they were doing in the summer following “12,” so what cromette says to do makes complete sense. :)

Definitely circle the 12. Once he finishes a grade, he has moved up from that level. The following summer is referenced by the grade your student will be in the coming school year.
