How do you penetrate into 700 range on CR/Writing?

<p>I am asking help to everyone out there who can give me some advice
on my SAT studying :]
I’m currently a Junior and I haven’t taken any SAT yet, but I registered to take the May 3rd one. I have been studying with the Blue Book
and on my practice tests, I always seem to get either 680 or 690 on my CR/Writing. It is always in the high 600 range, but it seems like I can never penetrate into the 700 range. :[</p>

<p>How do you improve your score from high 600s to 700 range?
If you could give me some thoughtful advices, that will be great! :]

<p>for the CR, how are you doing for the vocab parts?</p>

<p>I usually get 2 questions wrong when there’s 8 vocab problems…and 1 or none on the 5 vocab sets…what is the best way to increase vocab level? I studied the Word Smart a little…Does that help?</p>

<p>don’t miss vocab questions. One missed vocab per section is -60 ish points… Plus one missed passage question, and unless the curve is generous… Your below. It is generally easier to crack the vocab than the passage, and cracking the vocab probably will help you with the passage</p>

<p>if you are bad at vocab, invest time into it. this will probably give you the most amount of points, and you can’t really afford to miss any to get 700-800.</p>

Yeah, English must not be the OP’s first language if he is misusing words like “penetrate.” And that’s why he isn’t scoring in the 700s.</p>

<p>My advice is to read sample passages and learn grammar rules.</p>

i would also recommend studying vocab if you’re getting 1-2 wrong per section</p>

<p>princeton review’s hit parade is pretty good, a nice list of high frequency words and not too much extra vocab
however if your vocab is really lacking try studying a few more obscure words</p>
