<p>In California (Norcal at least) these are all pronounced the same due to the merger effect that has come about in california. If you come to california this will be uniform. </p>

<p>i used to say “take 5” or “take 405” because my parents lived in nor cal for 20 years and that’s how they said it, now i say the so cal version: “take the 5, take the 805”</p>
<p>oh, btw, california english owns all other American English varieties (dialects)!</p>
<p>Crown = Crayon. My d did this when she was little, born in FL, moved to CO, and raised by 2 NY accent parents. I have no idea where it came from. She stopped around age 10.</p>

<p>i’m not trying to be rude, but are you by any chance from long island??? i only say this because a lot of my friends at school are from long island, and those of us from WNY pick on them all the time for their accents, especially the aaron/erin distinction. :)</p>

<p>I moved from SW OH to FL in 9th grade and get made fun of for saying “pop” all the time. I also use “at” unecessarily when asking “where’s it at.” Others have commented on how I drag out the “o” in “owe-shin (ocean).” </p>
<p>And we use the crap out of “please” and “thank you.” Here’s a scene you’ll only find in Cincy (you can also substitute in sorry for the second please in this):</p>
