How do you pronounce loomis chaffee?

Mainly the chaffee part. Is it CHAH-FEY? OR CHAH-F? How is the A prounounce too.

I think it’s CHAY-fee, but what do I really know? Ha!

CHAF-ee (rhymes with taffy)

Ahhh…thanks soccer_dad ! Now I do know and if it comes up, I won’t embarrass myself. (by mispronouncing something, anyway. There are plenty of other opportunities for me to embarass myself! )

Taffy –> chaffy

no, soccer dad is wrong. its chay-fee.

I agree with starz - it is chay-fee (it does NOT rhyme with taffy)

It was pronounced “Chayfee” by the staff when we toured the school several years ago.

Naturally, I’ll defer to the pronunciation of the school staff.

I’m pretty sure I can blame my error on Chapstick commercials.

I was a child in the 70’s. Suzy Chaffee, the Alpine Skier, Actress, alleged paramour of Ted Kennedy, and easily the most prominent Chaffee of the era, pronounced her name CHAF-ee (rhymes with taffy.)

Time sure flies.

Is this really a big issue?

I think it is if you are on campus and anxious about saying the name of the school incorrectly.

I went to a Loomis meeting the other day, and the school official pronounced it CHAY-fee.

loo-miss chay-fee

Most people just say Loomis.

School has an interesting history.

loo-mis chay-fee (the end is as in fee, like “to pay a fee”)

Chaffee girl from the early 70s chiming in … it’s CHAY-fee.

In the old days they called us CHAYferrs.

its chay fee.

Loo-mis chay-fee

not a stupid question. I was wondering the same. Past comments were cute.
