I have written the draft essays for common app, supplemental etc. I am going to have them reviewed by my school teachers. Has anyone hired any external help like a tutor/online services? I am really worried about putting my essays on the web due to plagiarism related reasons. I would never send my essays to anyone electronically. Even my teachers, I show them the hard copies. Let me know your thoughts

This is useful info

Be wary about having people edit your essays. I would definitely NOT have a professional service edit, and I’d even be cautious about taking advice from teachers. The most important thing is that your essay conveys something unique about YOU - it should reflect your voice and writing style. I showed my essays to a few people, but I ended up not taking any of their advice. Just be yourself. Good luck.

Ask people of different backgrounds and personalities (those that you trust and respect, obviously) to read your essay and then consider their feedback. Know how others feel about your essay, but only actually change the essay if it is absolutely necessary.

Thanks everyone. T26E4, I have seen and read the UVA info already. It is very helpful.
