How do you "show" and not "tell" in your essay?

<p>How can I “show” in this essay prompt rather than “tell”?</p>

<p>Choose an issue of importance to you—the issue could be personal, school related, local, political, or international in scope—and write an essay in which you explain the significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or your generation.</p>

<p>And also, what type of topics can fall into that prompt?</p>

<p>Generally, use action verbs as opposed to passive ones. That’s a start.</p>

<p>What’s important to you? What are you passionate about? If you are passionate about something - preferably specific, I think - the “show” will emerge by itself.</p>
