It seems that my room mate doesn’t understand the meaning of the word “sleep” as he stays up all night playing online games. The sounds of the keyboard and mouse is driving me crazy. I would be eternally grateful for any useful tips. Thanks.

Just tell him to get out and stop being such a loser

Did you ask him to play somewhere else?

Confront him about it, but not in a rude way. If that doesn’t work, try doing the same to him when he sleeps, so that he gets the point.

had the same issue with my freshman year roommate, got him a girlfriend and he suddenly seemed to lose interest in gaming…

what do you mean by “got him a girlfriend?” Did you set them up on a date or did you simply introduce them? just curious.

earplugs should more or less do the trick. It should at least help. If you do that, just be sure you set your alarm to real loud.

Yes, yes. What do you REALLY mean by got him a girlfriend? Please tell us. Provide details and tips and tricks too please.

i meant that I invited my gaming addicted, never leave the room type room mate out and helped him meet some friends and girls, one of whom became his girlfriend. He now has quite social, its amazing what you can do when you close that WoW account.

You should make a lot of noise when he’s sleeping in the day.

white noise machine. there are free websites online that provide a white, brown or pink noise. turn it up loud enough and the clickity clacks of the keyboard are magically drowned out.

haha i feel like a sales associate

Learn to sleep.

white noise machine or ear plugs.

Or you know…actually talking to them about it.

Thanks for the replies will try them out. Although I think the “get him a girlfriend” would be harder to achieve. I was surprised that there was actually a program out there which drowns out the keyboard sounds.

First you need to grab your pillow, then the rest is pretty self-explanatory. Good Luck.

Earplugs

Or just ask your RA

Well, I’ve mentioned it to him nicely and he says he will try to keep it down. But it doesn’t seem like he has gained any interest in going to sleep so I guess I need to get a pair of earplugs as soon as possible. Maybe even combine the earplugs and the white noise machine to achieve a better effect. Then get a new room mate next semester.

Well, I must make a whole lot of racket in the early morning when I wake up, so my roommate does the same at night. A fan and headphones works for me.
