How Do You Spend Election Night?

I’m so glad you guys liked it. On normal days, it has a morning issue and a late afternoon issue

Oh, heck, yeah! RealClearPolitics is where we go for our political news.

A ton of info on that site. Info, not spin unless you read the opinion stuff.

But the opinion stuff is clearly opinon and doesn’t tilt in either direction

Still working away on a tough engineering problem tonight. I must admit that I did take a peek at the results - not really useful as the polls weren’t even closed when I looked. At any rate, I figured out who should own the problem and will just pass it on and then work on the next problem.

It’s nice to have too much work at the office.

For job security.

Just finished folding laundry; vacuuming and cleaning the cats’ litter boxes is next. I can’t really focus on work, although I have a ton of articles I need to be reading. H and D are both really into the election. H is channel surfing so I have been popping in to peek at the results.

This is D’s first presidential election as a voter and she will take it quite hard if her candidate does not win.

Nate Silver and crew is live blogging. Interesting stuff.

Agree nate silver is interesting

Nate Silver is the best. He uses math instead of “feelings”. Nate called everything correctly but 1 state in 2008.

Nate is looking good again. He called Florida for Obama.

This election looks over.

Knocked on 250 doors in the last 2 days… and today was cold and raining. Brr… I am finally warming up after soup for dinner, then a couple of hours wrapped in a fleece jacket at a local candidate’s party. The wine might have helped, too. Now home to tuck D2 in, and watching returns from the couch (still in the fleece!).

MODERATOR’S NOTE

Please remember to follow the Terms of Service:

Politics, religion, and similar controversial topics should be discussed only as directly applicable to college matters. College Confidential is not a debating society. Hence, “Would a Catholic be comfortable at BYU?” or “What is the political environment at Grinnell?” are fine. “Democrats (or Republicans) are evil!” and other opinions unrelated to the college process are not allowed.

Enjoying my champagne-thanks whoever suggested that! I was impressed by how thoughtful-and bipartisan-both of my older kids were as they discussed our long, complicated ballot. My 8th grader followed the issues beyond what her school did, which is good. Now watching for local results, just coming in. Several very tight measures and races.

Nate Silver has called all the states correctly.

Cuz Nate Silver is a genius. It has been sad that he is behind the NYT paywall this election, but I have been using all of my limited number of clicks there for him  Those U of Chicago eggheads… I say that affectionately, as U of Chicago is near the top of D2’s college list.

Thought I’d be able to watch speeches tonight, but alas not looking likely =/. Darn work! Yay Youtube tomorrow lol!

MODERATOR’S NOTE:

I am closing the thread since there were quite a few more political posts. Please do not start a new thread on the election.
