So I was looking at this article that said what else could the U.S. have done after 11 September isntead of bombing Afghanistan. “It could have sued Afghanistan in the ICJ for harbouring Osama Bin Laden and others involved in the attacks” So what the heck is going to be the verdict on a sued country? And can a person per se sue a country? That’d be sweet. Pure ownage.

I wish I could sue a country. Then whenever one of it’s citizens starts beef with me, I could say “Ya really? Well I f’in SUED your country!”

AFAIK, You can’t just sue a country, just like you can’t just sue the government (the government gets to decide if it will accept your suit against it). Intergovernmental things like one country “suing” another is an entirely separate matter.

You can sue Government institutions. Like, I could sue the police if I thought they violated my rights.

I thought a country can “sue” another country over land disputes?

I think a government can sue another country’s gov. But that’s generally called: war.
