What kind of school could a kid with a 1370 get into? Let’s assume the 1370 is 570 verbal, 800 math, and the kid is interested in majors that key on math. Let’s also assume strong, but maybe not top, grades, and strong (but maybe not national) ECs that fit the kid’s interests. Where could he apply today? What schools should he retake the SAT for if he wants to have a decent chance of getting in?

It depends. As an engineering major, he could get into some pretty good programs, in my experience, as they donot put as much emphasis on the verbal score. It would depend on the curriculum, the strength of courses taken. If he has had the advanced math and science classes, he may well get in on the basis fo his math and ECS, again depending on what they are.

My friend has a son at Kenyon with such scores and profile. He also got into a number of like LACs and some Tech schools such as Case, Bucknell (engineering), URochester, Renesallaer.

I heard today (months after the original post in this thread) of someone else with a very similar score profile, so I’ll ask again about suitable schools for a math-high test-taker in the mid-to-high 1300s.
