How does an upward trend in GPA look?

I started off high school rough, trying to balance Track and ECs, so my freshmen year grades were a little low. Would colleges appreciate that my GPA has an upward trend and I took way more APs in my junior year? Although I’m likely not going to be the Top 10 in my grade, I do have plenty of ECs and Internships that could match up.

My transcript looks something like this:

Like i said, I have had 2 internships so far and plenty of service hours. Would my GPA have a significant negative impact on my apps?
Specifically, what would my chances be for engineering/physics at UCLA, UCB, UCSD, cornell, carnegie, Umich, UT Austin, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins etc?

That looks really great. And, good news, the UC systemdoesn’t even look at freshman year grades.

They use 10-11th grades for the a-g course requirements. Are you in-state for the UC’s? Are you a Senior that has already applied?

SAT 1560 ACT 33

Yes I am instate.
Also i know cornell, carnegie, umich etc do look at freshmen year. How would my GPA look to private selective unis?

UCs ONLY look at 10th and 11th. Just make sure you hit all their a-g requirements. Looks good and your scores are good. UCLA and UCB are highly selective as are all of your colleges, so make sure to add a few non-reach schools.

tbh 4 Bs (assuming you have straight As senior year) isn’t bad for competitive schools like the ones you listed above
