How does business equity alter financial aid at Harvard vs Princeton

As a current junior, I am looking next year to apply SCEA to either Harvard or Princeton. After doing some research I found that while Harvard requires both the FAFSA and the CSS profile (which includes equity) in the FA application, Princeton only requires the FAFSA.

Does anyone have further insight into the impact of a parent’s business equity on the amount of financial aid received in general and specifically, these institutions?

Thanks so much.

Princeton requires its own detailed finaid form in addition to fafsa.

If your parents own a business, the net price calculators on those college websites will NOT likely be accurate. The value of the business must be included on the Profile and on Princeton’s own finaid application form. In addition, some business deductions allowed by the IRS for tax purposes will likely be added back in as income for need based financial aid calculation purposes.

Thanks for the responses! The application is worth a shot, but who knows how much I’ll actually get (if I am lucky enough to get in)

You don’t really know if you are not admitted to both schools. So apply to both and decide later.
