How does Columbia view unique classes?

I have been thinking about this for a while now…

At my school I take classes called:

This Semester:
-Organic Chemistry

Second Semester:
-Forensic Quantatative Analysis
-Modern Instrumental Chemical Analysis

I believe these classes are unique to my school(?)

Umm…any input or thoughts on how Columbia would view them?

what specifically do you mean how Columbia would view them? i don’t think they’d particularly care, as long as you do well in them.

Hmm…it’s just that my intended major is chem, and I went through many different classes in chem. Besides that most high schoolers take the usual classes and APs…no unique classes.

That’s how I saw it, so I have no idea O_o

the fact that they’re unique to your school speaks more to the quality of the school than the aptitude of the student. however, the adcom probably will like the fact that you are taking advantage of all the resources your school has to offer related to your intended major. still, it’s unlikely to have any significant effect whatsoever as far as admissions.

Ok thanks then :)

The last two sound interesting, but orgo is by no means a unique class to your high school.

Yeah, sorry the unique part was meant to the other 2. But of course I had to write Orgo for 1st semester on Commonapp.
