How does Harvard choose their class?

<p>Does Harvard have a “quota” when creating the class. (For example, they need x number of mathematicians, poets…etc) If so, is there any data for this?</p>

<p>What would you say … “goals” not quotas?</p>

<p>Like all schools with “diversity” as the watchword, they want a certain racial and ethnic mix, they want people from “all 50 states and xx foreign countries”, football players, Intel winners, physics majors, English majors, economics majors etc etc etc.</p>

<p>Insuring a desirable mix obviously requires some attention to numbers.</p>
