When I apply right now for EA, should i just leave the SAT portion unfilled, since I’m retaking? I’ve already taken the SAT before but my CR score was pretty low.

How does it work? Even if I do report a lower score and my next score is higher, do they just look at the score I send them?

For example, i scored well on the math and writing; should i just report those and leave the reading part blank? How do I mention that I’m retaking?

Or maybe I don’t have to report it at all, because they’ll see my higher scores when I send it to them via collegeboard later on?

i think you have to report your first score, and then put the date you are retaking so they know that you are trying to improve. when you send your scores, they will see anyway. when you send one set of SAT scores, everything previously taken is sent too.

i’m going to be a senior but i dont understand how the test score thing works? for all my SATs/ACTs, ive put down which schools i wanted the scores sent to (during the online registration). so do these colleges already have my scores? will they know my scores once i send in my application? same goes for teacher and counselor recs, if they send in the recs on paper, and i’m applying electronically… they’ll be able to pair them up right?

You have to go into your collegeboard account, select the MY TESTS tab, go to REGISTRATIONS COMPLETED[ which you have to fill out in order for the colleges to be sent your scores], scroll down to the bottom of the page to SUMMARY OF SENT SCORES, click on that link, and at the bottom of the next page will be a list of all the colleges that received your scores, and when they were sent.

Re teacher/ counselor recommendations, make sure that you use the exact same name on all your applications, SAT registrations, and any thing else that will be sent to the colleges, as you are known by at the school. [ i.e. If you are named John and that’s the name on your application, but the teachers refer to you as you Jack in their letter of recommendation, because that’s the name you go by, it could cause a problem] The colleges should be able to match up your electronic application with any paper documents you have sent, but in the end it will be your responsibility to follow up to be sure they actually do receive them and get in into your folder.
