How does MIT view Early Entrance Programs

Hi all,

My name is Tanner and I attended an Early Entrance Program at a state university in Kansas during my junior and senior year of high school. The program is called the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science, and like the title implies, is a program heavily focused on a math and science curriculum. I have taken a full college course load, lived in a dorm on campus and I am only affiliated with my high school as to ensure I get enough transferrable credits to get my diploma. My junior year of KAMS, I took Analytic Geometry and Calc 1 and 2, University Chemistry 1 and 2 with Labs, Linear Algebra, a course designed to help us conduct scientific research and wrote two papers, both focusing on environmental chemistry. My senior year of KAMS I Engineering Physics 1/2 with Labs, Organic Chemistry I with Lab (I am not taking organic 2 because I can’t stand this subject. I am more of a theory/calculation kind of guy), Analytic Geometry and Calc 3 (Multivariable Calc), Abstract Algebra, Differential Equations, and Advanced Calculus 1. I have also been apart of other research teams in the Chemistry and physics departments. I also took other english and history classes to meet my high school graduation requirements.

I really don’t care if MIT takes much, or any of the credit, but if I did well in a program like this, do you think it will make me stand out from the other applicants or do colleges really care that much about EE programs?
I know this isn’t a full “application” so when I ask for my chances I just want to know really how do you guys think this will look on my application. I have extracurriculars as well, but for now I just want to put this out there. Here is some more information:

Thanks and I will chance back.

Tanner

What did you score on the math portion of the SAT and the Math II subject test?

Nice that you took those classes, but they don’t mean much to a school like MIT.

I didn’t take the SAT. I took the ACT with a 32 on the Math and 730 on the Math II subject test. Why wouldn’t that mean much?

It probably be better than some kid coming from a nowhere public school.

In Texas we have the same thing called TAMS, my friends go there and there are a ton of MITs and Caltech etc every year, so yes early college programs help.

Chance me back?

Well unfortunately, the programs don’t mean much in general to MIT. They mean next to nothing if you have a low ACT score, and a low SAT II Score.

MIT says explicitly that test scores are not the most important factor.
