How does my Counselor know me well?

Well…I mean we have alooot of students in our school and i never really got to know my counselor that well. How will she know what volunteer work i do, community service, clubs, and how my personality is? This will be hard as i don’t want a bad counselor application… :/

You go in and tell your counselor. Write out a resume, give them a copy of your college app essays, and talk to them for 20-30 minutes or more about yourself.

And point them to the teachers who know you best, so they can pick the teacher’s brain’s as well.

Should i write an essay explaining what I do, how i apply myself and my interests/hobbies then give her the application to fill out…Don’t want to have a bad app if she doesnt know me well…and I’m in High School…I think I may type a 1-2 page essay over the break explaining to her why I’m fit for the school(s) I’m applying to.

I don’t see why not. My school had a rec packet you could fill out with questions like “What’s your favorite subject?” “Why do you want this rec?” “What are your passions/activities?” Etc.

If you’re just applying to publics, they make their admissions decisions overwhelmingly based on stats and state of residence. Other things --including counselor reccs – may be considerations for merit aid.
