So, after being deferred by Harvard, I decided to come on here and throw around my other choices for discussion.
In college, I desire to study finance and business. My goal is to parlay my education into being a financial advisor/manager or analyst. I am originally from Rhode Island, but I am going to graduate high school from a prep school in Florida (American Heritage-Delray/Boca). My academic credentials are good: I have been in all Honors and AP classes through my high school tenure. However, I did not take an AP class before Junior year, because they were not offered to underclassmen at my original school. I moved from Rhode Island after my sophomore year. Here is my current Senior schedule with my first semester grades:
AP Government - A
AP Environmental Sciences- A
AP BC Calculus- A+
AP Macroeconomics- A
AP Statistics- A
AP Literature & Composition- A
(Junior Year Schedule)
AP AB Calculus (A 1st Sem, A 2nd Sem)
AP Language & Composition (B+ 1st Sem, A 2nd Sem)
AP Chemistry (A 1st Sem, A+ 2nd Sem)
AP World History (A- 1st Sem, A- 2nd Sem)
Honors Spanish 3 (A+ 1st, A+ 2nd Sem)
My school (American Heritage) is a very rigorous school that is known for putting students into Ivy League institutions, so I am very proud of my grades. Here are my Standardized Scores:
SAT - 1510 (1520 Superscore)
ACT - 33 (34 Superscore)
Math 2 - 790
Chemistry - 790
AP Chemistry - 4
AP World History - 4
AP Language & Composition - 4
AP AB Calculus - 5
My extracurriculars are also respectable:
Varsity Basketball (Two Years)
Varsity Water Polo (One Year)
Member of a Youth Ministry Group in Rhode Island
Volunteered at the Community Living Center of my local Veterans Hospital
Volunteered at local Food Bank in Rhode Island
National Science, English, and Foreign Language Honor Societies
The letters of recommendation that I have from my teachers and mentors are top-notch and display the purest sense of my character. Furthermore, I wrote my main Common Application Essay on my assistance with my father’s scholarship fund at my old high school. I explained how I helped select the applicants, tutor them, and act as a friend for them. Ultimately, I portrayed how the experience changed my perception of the world and my view on opportunity. It made me realize how fortunate I am to be in my position. Due to that experience, I now desire to use my own success in the future to create a scholarship or organization of my own to assist and deliver education andv opportunity to others.
Here is my college list:
Harvard (Deferred into Regular Pool)
NYU (Stern)
Columbia University
Brown University
UPENN (Wharton)
Princeton
Cornell (Dyson)
Dartmouth
Bentley
Boston University
I am an incredibly hardworking student and person. I have given high school every possible ounce of effort, so I truly hope that I make it into a big-time school for business. So, how does my application look? Thank you very much for your time.
