How does older sib in service academy affect F.A.?

<p>How is FAFSA EFC calculated if a two-year older sibling is attending one of the Service Academies? Is that student considered independent, making the younger sibling effectively the only one in college? Is any of the income received by the older sibling reportable in FAFSA?</p>

<p>The student in the acadamy can not be counted as one in the household or one in college for the other student. This is adressed quite specifically in FAFSA. So yes the younger sibling would be the only one in college.</p>

<p>A sibling’s income is never reportable on FAFSA. Only the parent’s income and the income of the student whose FAFSA it is.</p>
