I have already taken SAT II in World History, Math 2, and Biology Molecular, scoring 700+ on all three. Is it advantageous to take more SAT II’s?

Anybody got an answer?

It is standard advice to homeschoolers to take more rather than fewer SAT Subject Tests, the better to validate grades that in some cases are not present on a transcript or are issued by a learner’s parent, but I have not heard that advice specifically from any Harvard admission officer (this is the Harvard Forum, after all). And I have no idea if additional SAT Subject Test scores are more meaningful than, say, national awards in an academic extracurricular activity, really high performance in a Harvard NCAA sport, significant community involvement that would add to the college community of Harvard, etc. In other words, I can’t imagine that it would hurt to submit more SAT Subject Test scores (there is space for six on the Common Application, which Harvard uses), but I have no idea how much it would help.

Good luck in your application. Be sure to apply to Harvard, if you aspire to attend Harvard, but be sure to have a “safety” college on your application list too, if you are applying to colleges as selective as Harvard is.

The questioner is not a homeschooler, if her postings are any indication. Extra tests are needed for reasons specific to homeschool.

For applications in general, there was a posting here citing a conversation with Harvard admissions person who supposedly said that very high scores on additional SAT II beyond the three required would be noticed and viewed favorably by admissions readers, despite not counting in any official sense. The poster was not very specific about the conversation, but that was the gist.

How much over 700 did you score? If it’s over 750, then it’s not necessary to take more SAT-IIs. Otherwise, you may want to take one or two more tests so as to be able to present higher scores than you presently have.

if you can score higher than 750, i’d say go for it.
but it’s pretty annoying to study for them, unless you got it already
above 750~790 is about the same. 800 has a little more sparkle.
Maybe retake the ones you don’t have above 750?
