How does the admissions challenge process work?

I applied to Berkeley, UCLA, UCSB, UCR and UCI for political science. I currently have a 2.9 transferable GPA. With my current load of 22 units, I plan on having a 3.4 transferable GPA at the end of this semester. I have a strong feeling that Berkeley won’t accept a 2.9 GPA student. I have been a senator and a treasurer on the ASB for a year. I was a founding member of the Political Science Club. I am going to graduate under the honors enrichment program. I also plan on having all As for this semester. My GPA should end up being a 3.4.

How do I go about challenging Berkeley’s admission (or any other school if I don’t get in)?
What do my chances look like?
How long does it usually take for an answer for a challenge?

You must have compelling new information for the UCB admission’s process, and a 3.4, let alone a 2.9, is not competitive in the least for the social sciences department (22% acceptance rate). I would still recommend you appeal, but I don’t think you have a chance of being accepted normally, or through appeals.

What is your GPA for your major prereqs?

Political Science 101 - B
Political Science 102 honors - A
Economics 201 - A
Economics 202 - A
History 111 honors - A
History 101 - A
History 102 - A

I know you must be thinking… so many A’s yet a 2.9. I had a full time job that really killed my GPA. I also wasn’t as motivated.
