How Does the Common App Send Out Applications?

I’m a high school senior in Tennessee, and I am planning on sending my most important applications this week (fall break). I was recently persuaded to also apply to some reach schools and some more safety schools, so I have not been able to complete my CommonApps for those schools. However, one of my schools (NCSU) deadline for early action (non-binding (?)) is this Saturday, so I definitely want to send that application out this week. Because of this, I was planning on sending out my other two major applications (UTK and UAlabama).

I recently added more schools to apply to, so I am not ready to send out applications to those schools. If I submit my CommonApp, will it send it only to the school I’ve selected it to send it to, or will it send it to all the colleges I’ve selected on my dashboard?

I tend to believe that it would only send to one college at a time, but I was talking to a friend who had already sent out her applications and she said hers went all at once, so I wanted to make sure before I sent out half empty applications.

Thank you in advance.

You will submit to each college individually, so you can send NCSU’s application this weekend and then send your others when you are ready.

Make sure you complete all three steps when you submit your application–preview your app, pay the application fee, and provide your electronic signature. I have heard a lot of horror stories about people that pay the fee and think that is the last step of the process! The application isn’t submitted until you see a “Green Check” mark next to the college’s name on your Dashboard.
