how does the open transfer night work?

<p>how exactly will it work? 'cause won’t it be a hassle switching rooms AFTER you’ve moved into your assigned room?</p>

<p>Yeah I imagine it would be hassle… I guess just bring the bare essentials so that moving will be easier.</p>

<p>has anyone gone through the open transfer night & the whole switching after you’ve moved in? if so can you share your experience?</p>

<p>There are three ways you can do it.</p>

<ol>
<li><p>You find a person to switch before going in so that you can just fill out the paperwork.</p></li>
<li><p>You get lucky and there are empty spaces so you just switch.</p></li>
<li><p>You show up and put your name in the system (Excel-type of spreadsheet) and keep an eye out for someone that has what you want and vice-versa. The spreadsheet is displayed on the wall with a projector.</p></li>
</ol>

<p>The names, gender, room-type, and phone number are listed in the spreadsheet so you’re going to have to call them and arrange it. Most of the time you’re going to have to sell your room for theirs by which I mean you’re going to have to do some convincing. People come and go so you’re going to have to just wait around and hope someone shows up looking to trade. I think you do most of the arrangements on the first day and just fill out the paperwork on the second day. But you have both days to find someone.</p>

<p>Once you found someone then you go to the housing people and tell them you’re switching. They make you sign some paperwork to agree to the switch. Then they make some calculations to adjust your housing rates. They also give you a couple of days to make the move to your new dorm. You will be able to swipe into both your old and new building while you do the move just in case you have to do a couple of trips. Once your done moving all your crap you go to your old building’s front desk and sign out. You also have to go to your new building’s front desk and sign in. THE END</p>
