I have a question about how UCLA organizes who goes on what floor of a building.

For example, I am going to be living in a plaza in the fall.

let’s say when someone is picky about their living situation…for example, they put on their housing survey that they do not want visitors, go to bed at the earliest bedtime, etc… I know that UCLA will try and group the person’s roommates with the same preferences.

HOWEVER, does this also mean that the people on the floor will have the same preferences as well? or no?
soo that all of the early sleepers are on the same floor and all the late sleepers are on the same floor? because if it is like that, it kind of would help explain why some floors are more social than others… i guess???

does anyone know the answer to this question?
so basically are floors grouped by common preferences as well or are only roommates grouped based on common preferences?

if i’m in a plaza, there will be more sophomores & juniors,
so would i be rooming with a freshmen or would they place me with a sophomore or junior?

No. Definitely not. How “social” a floor is depends entirely on the people living on that floor.

There are themed floors, but otherwise its only roommates that are attempted to be matched based on the preferences listed. And unfortunately, those don’t always work out well.

You’ll almost definitely be with another freshman (;)) because returning students almost always have a roommate picked out and they sign up for housing together. So unless a soph/junior signed up by themselves leaving an empty spot in the room, or their planned roommate dropped or something, you probably won’t be living with one.
