How does UCSD Transfer Housing work?

Anyone what percent of people that are wait listed get housing?

Although it’s much more expensive than living off-campus, I want to live on-campus my first year (to get acquainted with campus, city etc). UCSD is my top choice, but it’d be terrible to get in and then not get housing.

How hard is it to get a single? I’d love to live on campus my first year for that college experience, but would like to have a room to myself.

Don’t forget that any student/transfers can apply for international housing as well. I believe the international housing is located at ERC and it looks fairly nice… Anyways I made a thread similar to this here you go…http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-san-diego/1036867-ucsd-transfer-dorm-question.html

SDhopeful: It is very hard to get a single. About 90% of people want them and maybe 5% actually get them. Usually you need to have or make up some medical issue to get in. For example: being allergic to all nuts, asthma, etc. (true story)

I’d love a single, but I wouldn’t lie to get one.

Is it possible to try to get a single and then if they give me a double, decline, and look off-campus?

Umm. I don’t think so. I think you pay a standard fee (which goes towards the first month’s rent) and then you do room selection.
