I know its one gender per room, but is each suite co-ed? Or is it each suite is one gender, but the whole floor is co-ed?
How do the room selection work? I know there’s two types of suites for Building 1. How would one have the best chance of getting into building 1

ahhh! i feel like its too soon for housing threads…or maybe its never too soon?..LOL. but maybe post this on the UCSD forum if no one here knows?

Each room is one gender, and each suite is one gender. The floors are co-ed. As far as getting into the tower, it’s pretty easy since it houses more people than the rest of the housing. The best way to get in is just to make sure you sign up early when the registration opens because they call you based on how quickly you sign up, so the earlier you sign up the more likely you are able to choose a room in the tower.

The floors alternate genders so both your neighbors will be opposite sex (good and bad thing). Room selection will come around in June/July. You will need to complete application(s). This will give the school (in particular the Village) your paperwork. You will then be asked to complete a survey and pay for the first month rent (this is first come first serve, the earlier you do this the better room you will get). Once then, they’ll call you and ask you what room you want (in August). If you were on top of it, you’ll get 12-14th floor ocean view if not you’ll get building 8 floor 1 with a view of the trash cans…

However this year, phase 2 of the village is opening so who knows if they’ll stick to this system again…

“The floors alternate genders so both your neighbors will be opposite sex (good and bad thing)”

Hows that a bad thing? lol

^ Avoiding them when necessary can be a challenge…

When can we put our name on the waitlist for 2011 transfers?

when you get accepted im going to assume…

UCSD offers a really cool transfer on-campus housing program called The Village. It’s an apartment complex that offers single or double rooms. Check out their website: [UC San Diego Housing - The Village at Torrey Pines, West](http://hdh.ucsd.edu/thevillage/)

^ can you go to this instead of your subcollege at ucsd?

jah^ i dont even think the six colleges allow transfer to live there lol

^ cool story bro

so if you decide to live there you still need to finish your subcollege prereqs??

also what if you finished IGETC, i ranked sixth as 1 unfortunately, would i have to finish their prereqs?

Can anyone confirm that transfers aren’t allowed to live in the sub-college dorms/res halls?

I’ve heard that the Village transfer housing kind of sucks. Its $1400 a month btw…

Rates for the 2010/2011 Academic Year:

* Double rooms: $9,667 - $10,774
- Single rooms: $10,322 - $11,385

Yes, transfers can only live in transfer-specific housing.

^so what does that mean. So The Village is an option, what else?

if i say i get into Sixth college i’m not going to be living there?

^dont call me a bro, pussycat. and im pretty sure its either the village or off campus housing…maybe there are some oncampus apts? not sure.

and to respond to your other post, even if you have IGETC certified you still have to complete the college’s transfer requirements that you get accepted to. Sixth has some crappy (IMO) practicum/project thing that their students have to do. i ranked it like fourth.

lol ^^^
Redo is right, the village or off campus for transfer students.
i also ranked sixth fourth after muir, warren, and marshall

You guys all fail.

Some transfer students will have to room with the freshmen in the resident halls but not a lot. For example: the Village doesn’t have a lot of singles and say someone on a waiting list for a single is given the opportunity to take a single at Muir (for instance) as opposed to rooming with 5 other guys. Since I go here, I know this happens.

However, about 90% of transfer students will either reside in the Village or off campus but like I mentioned before this year they’re opening up East Village so I doubt that transfer students will ever have to room with freshmen and sophomores again in the resident halls.

PS. What a lot of people don’t know is that those monthly rates for the rooms include a meal plan (something like $2200 a year). But it still comes out too expensive for most of our budgets…

im posting here so i can check it out later. ■■■, gotta learn something new all d time about UCSD.
