does your pre prep have a 9th grade? Many kids leave after 8th grade to attend boarding schools. What does your pre prep do to celebrate the graduating 8th graders?

Very, very big deal.

For leaving 8th graders:

in school formal ceremony

For leaving 9th graders:

In school passing of the shovel to new 9th-grade classes, plus other traditions

Evening of appreciation-prize awards with each adviser giving a speech and gift about their individual advisees, with musical entertainment by students.

Dinner Dance for students

Baccalaureate at the nearby chapel with ladies in flowered dresses, boys in suits.

Graduation on the lawn with ladies in white, boys in suits

Post Graduation luncheon

my school is a prep (day) school so we go all the way to 12th grade. about 1% of the grade leaves after eight grade though and we get about 20 new kids for 9th. They don’t make to big a deal about 8th grade graduation (cause most of the kids are staying at the school) we pretty much have a ceremony and a barbeque.

my school goes PK-12, and we have a whole graduation (suits and white dresses, speakers, a procession, etc.), a reception/luncheon for the graduates, and a party the night of graduation. also, before graduation day, there is a closing assembly where various awards are given to the eighth graders.

Ummm we have a big formal final dance, baccalaureate, a dinner for graduating students only, commencement (white dresses, suits, speakers), torch-passing to rising students, lots of awards named after dead people and alums :)

we had a prize day then a graduation day- my school finished in 8th. i’ve always wondered what schools that finish in 9th but have significant matriculation after 8th grade do for graduation…
