IFS won’t work with my schedule, so I am looking into taking a community college course over the summer. My local community college does not appear on the transfer credit site. In general, how easy do general education courses transfer over? I am looking into taking a survey of world religions course that I hope would count for both world culture/arts and humanities. Since I wont be able to have the course evaluated before the registration deadline, how much of a risk would it be to just go ahead and take the course? I do see that REL-R 152,153 have transferred from many other colleges. Thanks for the help.

I would call the registrar and ask–better to find out than waste your money and your summer. They’re very helpful!

Would the registrar be able to tell me that? I called the transfer credit department and they told me I would’ve had to fill out the transfer credit form in the spring to get response for the summer. They basically said it takes around a month to have a course evaluated for credit.

If you are in Kelley or thinking of applying to Kelley, English Composition (W131) and microeconomics (201) would be two good ones to do before coming to IU. There would not be much risk in taking those just about anywhere as they are very basic college courses that everyone should offer; and these classes are risky to take to get solid B’s for guaranteed Kelley admission. Both are tough grading at IUB. You would need only solid C’s for them to transfer, and they won’t be figured into your IUB gpa and no grade will show for them on your transcript except “P” for pass. Then, just do your WC/A&H double-count classes at IUB in regular semesters.
