How easy is it fitting in after transferring colleges?

I’m at a local community college right now. I attended Alma College previously for a semester and withdrew during the first week of my second semester for personal reasons. I did dual enrollment in High School at the community college I’m at now and decided to go back there over the summer. I was going to go back to Alma, but decided it wasn’t where I was supposed to be. I’m hopefully finishing up at this CC in a year or so and after that I plan on transferring. I may or may not take a year off after finishing to save up money and whatnot.
I was just wondering how easy it is transferring? Is it hard fitting in there when you didn’t arrive as a freshmen? How does getting a dorm or a roommate work? I’m just curious and wanted to hear from people who have transferred. I would say what college if that would help, but I’m honestly not sure yet. I’m trying to find a college with a creative writing major or a good writing program.

Hi there. I can tell you my story. I’m a really awkward guy and very shy, so it’s tough for me to make friends. I love helping people and can talk up a storm, but I’m not really the type to approach people I don’t know. Anyway, I want to a community college for longer than I’d like to admit, but I did eventually get accepted to very nice schools in Southern California (which is where I live). However, I wound up going with a school that had deferred me to the spring semester and this was pretty bad because it means that I didn’t even get to transfer in with a larger group of other transfers - basically other transfers might have formed their own group of friends and knew their way around the school while I didn’t. One girl seemed to notice that I was shy and she introduced me to this center for Hispanic students and I really like it there, but I feel like I’m a bit out of place there. All of the students there are already friends with each other and I imagine if I had been there as a freshman, I would be part of the community. Right now, I just go there to do homework/study and see if anybody chats with me. Yeah, my story isn’t really happy so far. I didn’t even get a dorm because USC wanted me to dorm with 6 other students in a temporary space until they found me another place, but I wasn’t having that. However, with someone not as shy (and if you transfer in the fall like you’re supposed to), I don’t believe it would be very difficult to eventually find your place
