How exactly do teacher recommendations work?

I have asked two of my teachers for recommendation letters and added them to my schools on the Common App. My question is, how much work is this going to be for them? I’m applying to 9 schools, and I don’t want my recommenders to have to write 9 separate recommendations for me. Will they be able to submit the same letter to all schools? And can they see the deadlines for each school, or do I need to let them know when each one is due?

Also, should I still add teachers to colleges that don’t require any recommendations, or is this unnecessary?

They only have to prepare one recommendation. It can be used for every school you apply to. If you are applying to any schools through an early plan (EA or ED) you should let them know that date.
